Adam DeAscentis is a highly skilled and experienced bassist based in New York City.
Adam first picked up a bass at age 10 during his childhood in the rust belt city of Youngstown, Ohio. By the time he graduated high school, he found himself working in a dance band, teaching bass lessons, playing jazz gigs and having performed two bass concertos with his high school symphony and local youth orchestra.
Adam’s passion for music led him to pursue formal training at The Ohio State University. Living in Columbus, Adam played with the finest musicians across the entire scene (James Gaiters, Tony Monaco, Eddie Bayard, Pete Mills, Bobby Floyd, Dwight Adams, Dan Wilson, Theron Brown), and began building his reputation of always showing up well-prepared with a big sound and an easygoing ability to make everyone on stage smile. In 2014, Adam moved to further his studies at New York University and continue his musical growth in New York City.
Today, Adam is a sought-after session musician and collaborator whose musical signature is heard around the world. On renowned stages and GRAMMY-nominated recordings, Adam’s bass playing has supported the likes of Dionne Warwick, Louis Cato (Late Show with Stephen Colbert), Lawrence, Jonas Brothers, Kurt Elling, Charlie Hunter, Rachel Price and Akie Bermiss (Lake Street Dive), Cory Wong (Vulfpeck), Cynthia Erivo (GRAMMY and Tony winning musician and actress), Randy Rainbow (GRAMMY-nominated artist), Eric Bergen, Jordin Sparks (American Idol winner and platinum recording artist), Norbert Leo Butz (Tony winning artist), and Robin de Jesus (Drama Desk winning artist).
As the bassist of Huntertones, Adam’s bass playing is an anchor for the band’s signature sound which blends jazz, funk and rock to create a high-energy, horn-driven experience. For over a decade, Huntertones has thrilled audiences across five continents, released five albums and conducted numerous cultural and educational programs through the U.S. Department of State.
With his impeccable technique, deep musical knowledge, and Midwestern congeniality, Adam DeAscentis is a true master of the bass that stands out in the industry, lifting any musical encounter to new levels with humility and attention to subtle detail.
